Submit Your Reserves

Ebling Reserves is a full-featured service that can manage both your print and online reserves.

For print reserves, we can place books behind our service desk at the Ebling library for use by your students; this is ideal for textbooks. Print reserves can have a checkout period of 2 hours or 3 days. If a copy is not already available in our collection, we can put up an instructor’s desk copy (to be returned at the end of the course) or even purchase one for our collection. Try to get your print requests in early as obtaining books can take two weeks or more.

Electronic reserves are posted online via course pages software and accessed by enrolled students via the Academics tab in MyUW or in Learn@UW (if the course is activated by the instructor). Electronic reserves are typically completed in 1-3 business days.

Reserves requests can be dropped off at the service desk of the Ebling library or submitted to eblingreserves@library.wisc.edu. Alternatively, a form is available here:

Our reserves staff will tailor their service to an instructor’s specific needs. We have worked up a course page from only a syllabus, though many instructors prefer to email reserves material as attachments, or sometimes drop it off in hard-copy or burned onto a CDR. Material is typically posted in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
