A Photo Exhibit by Silas B. Ritchie & Dale Kaminski

Please join health sciences students, the public, and members of the art community for what promises to be a remarkable gathering.

Bump on a Line: The Art of Waiting, A photo exhibition by Silas B. Richie & Dale Kaminski has an opening reception on Wednesday, September 25th from 4:00-7:00 in the Ebling’s Historical Reading Room and Galleries. Meet the artists, view their photographs, enjoy the light fare and music…

Silas, 28, was born with cystic fibrosis and waited for two years to have a double lung transplant. Dale is a close friend and collaborator. These photos of cups of tea, nature, and the friends who shared this journey, signify their daily, mindful practice of coming to terms with the wait. Bump on a Line celebrates everyday moments that helped mitigate the stress and uneasy excitement of anticipating the Call… that finally came for Silas to receive the ultimate gift, a second chance at life.

Arguably, the photos will also elicit discussion about treating chronic illness, the politics, economics and ethics involved in the pursuit of organ donation, the artist and chronic illness, the idea of photographic images as a vehicle for hope and stress reduction, and the power of sharing one’s clinical journey.

Additionally, tea service and light fare will be offered from Madison’s Dobra Tea House and guitarist, Dave Irwin, will provide music in the Historical Reading Room.

The show then runs until December 13th. Please join us. Here’s a bit more… including a printable poster and parking information.
