April Drop-Ins at Ebling

April means spring flowers and the last of the drop-ins for spring semester. Take advantage of these great workshops and teachers before you wend your way to summer. Whether it’s unwieldy citations, data management or current awareness- we have something for you. No reservations needed.


1) Citation Manager: EndNote Basic (web version)

EndNote Basic is a web-based citation manager free to all UW-Madison staff and students! EndNote Basic can be used as a stand-alone citation manager OR in conjunction with EndNote Desktop. In this workshop learn how to collect and share your references and create a bibliography in your manuscript.

2) Access and Reuse: Managing Your Research Data

This workshop will provide an overview on how to facilitate the access and reuse of your data within your research group, how to comply with institutional and funding agency policies on data management and how to properly secure your data. Topics include organizing and naming data files, backing up data and versioning, data management plans, and managing sensitive data subject to intellectual property law or human subjects protection.

3) Citation Manager: Zotero

Zotero, a citation manager, collects all your research in a single, searchable interface. You can add references, PDFs, images, audio and video files, snapshots of web pages, and really anything else. It lives right where you do your work – in the web browser itself.

4) Current Awareness Tools – RSS and Beyond

Keeping up with your professional reading can be hard, and it seems like there’s more information and less time available than ever. There are tools and techniques that can help, however. Come learn about these tools and find out how you can get a current awareness makeover to get more reading done in less time. Tools covered will include Feedly, Hojoki, FriendFeed, BrowZine and more.
