“I am Malala” Event

As you may have heard, “I am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai is the 2014-2015 Go Big Read (GBR) choice. It is being used in countless courses across campus, everything from journalism to nursing, from multicultural literature to the Odyssey Project. On Monday, October 27th, at 7:00 pm., the co-founder of the Malala Fund, Shiza Shahid, will give a Keynote Lecture on the book, the fund and the story of Malala.

It will be in Union South’s Varsity Hall, and is open to the public, no tickets required. Since incorporating the book into UW’s curriculum, Malala has become the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, so we are very excited about Shiza’s part in the UW’s GBR program.

Though the Fall curriculum is set, “I am Malala” can still be included in Spring 2015 coursework. If you are faculty, sign up here to participate.
Students and faculty in participating courses (Fall or Spring) can pick up a copy of the book at Ebling’s 2nd floor Service Desk.
