Journal Access Update

Beginning January 1st, Ebling Library will have fewer journals that you will have immediate access to, due to the cancellation of those titles.

In the health sciences, yearly price increases for subscriptions to journals and databases range from 4% to 25%. The budget allocation for Ebling Library collections has not kept up with the rapidly rising costs of subscriptions. To stay within the collections budget for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, it was necessary for the Ebling Library to reduce subscription costs by about $200,000.

Andrew Osmond, Information Resources Coordinator at the Ebling Library, has analyzed data about use, price, and cost-per-use of journal and database subscriptions. This data along with consortial purchasing commitments and existing publisher agreements have been considered when making cancellations. For more information and a list of cancelled journals, click here.

We know the importance of having access to articles; Ebling staff will continue to facilitate the delivery of articles to faculty staff and students. This streamlined process of interlibrary loan will have the necessary article to you, often within 24-48 hours. To start the process of obtaining a needed article, click here.

We’re happy to discuss journal renewals and other resources that are purchased by the library. Our contact information is provided below. Thank you.
