1. About PubMed

PubMed provides access to all of MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine’s database of biomedical journal literature, back to the 1950s. The database:

    • Contains records of journal articles only—no books, videos, etc.
    • Currently indexes approximately 4,600 current journals
    • Represents journals in over 40 languages, from 70 countries
    • Adds new entries on a daily basis.
    • Is free to anyone, anywhere in the world, by going to http://www.PubMed.gov.

IMPORTANT: In order to get access to more than 2500 biomedical full-text journals that UW subscribes to, you must follow a link provided by the UW libraries. The easiest path is to go to http://ebling.library.wisc.edu, then follow the PubMed link in the Major Resources box on the left-hand side of the page.
