Swiss and German Medical School Thesis Collection, 1925-1948
The Historical Services Unit is pleased to announce the completion of a "new collection" cataloging project which is now available to researchers. The "Swiss and German Medical School Thesis Collection, 1925-1948" is a unique collection of approximately 770+ medical school theses written in Switzerland and Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. These medical research papers examine a variety of health topics from cardiovascular care, dermatology, obstetrics, gynecology, to dentistry. All are written in German.
The Swiss based medical schools represented are: Universität Zürich, Universität Basel, Universität Bern. German medical schools are Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau (a.k.a. Freiburg im Breisgau,) and Universität Heidelberg. The bulk of materials originate from the German medical schools which account for close to 83% of the collection.
The provenance of this collection is currently unknown.
Special Notes: Due to United States and German Copyright Laws, library staff cannot photocopy or scan these materials nor provide German to English translation services at this time. This collection is, however, available to researchers to examine in person. Please contact Historical Services staff if you have additional questions.

- Type heh cage in Search For: field and choose "as a phrase" from the drop down menu
- Chose "Holding Location Code" in the Search By: drop down menu
- Type AD in 2nd Search For: field choose and "Holdings Keyword" in Search By: drop down menu
- Click NOT. Type RMS in 3rd Search For: field and choose "Holdings Keyword" in Search By: drop down menu box
- Click Search button.
