Opera Quae Extant Omnia
Guilhelmus Fabricus Hildanus
1646

The engraved title page of Opera quae extant omnia
features a frame of significant medical figures to establish the context in which the author would like the
book to be viewed. At the bottom, however, is a delightful series of three vignettes that provide an overview of medical care at the time. The first panel is
labeled “the subject of medicine” and depicts a doctor
facing a variety of patients: one on crutches, one removing their stockings, and one reclining in bed. All look expectantly at the physician.
