The second panel is titled “instruments of medicine” and features an assortment of tools used by physicians. Among these are scalpels and surgical devices, the use of which Fabricus detailed in his writings. Also on display are an urn and a flask, both of which suggest the cures and remedies to be obtained from an apothecary, integrating advances in pharmacology into the modern practice of medicine that Fabricus sought to advance in his books.
