Opera Omnia
Pietro Andrea Mattoli
1674

This book represents the efforts of two important contributors to the field of medical botany. Pietro Andrea Mattoli was a scholar of medical botany who published in the mid-sixteenth century a volume
containing all of the current herbal knowledge, based on the plants described originally by Discorides. This
volume is a revised edition of Mattoli’s work by Caspar Bauhin, a famous anatomist and botanist. Bauhin corrected and enlarged Mattoli’s work, adding a great deal of new information. Throughout this volume are wonderful woodcut illustrations of plants, which were of a high degree of technical sophistication and set the standard for the appearance of later herbals.
