Tabulae Sceleti et Musculorum Corporis Humani
Bernhard Siegfried Albinus
1747

Our exhibition ends with an anatomical work that is
nearly as famous as Vesalius’, and contains background
detail that is similarly interesting. This large book
features engravings of such clarity and detail that they
set a new standard for anatomical imagery. They are
also one of the last sets of anatomical drawings to feature skeletons and muscle men in classical settings with a background. Future texts focus more on the practical details of realistic anatomy.
