The Mandrake's lore and interest has continued throughout the centuries. Mentioned in the book of Genesis, as well as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, it still remains as one of the most revered and intimidating plant:

"Mandrake or Mandragora is a powerful restorative," said Hermione, sounding as usual as though she had swallowed the textbook. "It is used to return people who have been transfigured or cursed, to their original state."
