Culinary herbs were used to supplement diet and health and plants were used to aid in general well being. Their preparation provided people with medicines, nourishment, and beauty products. While herbs added flavor to food, they were also valued for cosmetics, liniments, hygienic solutions, and their ability to enhance general health and to treat diseases.
