Goal(s) of the Project

The goal of the UW-Madison HS Library project, Improving Web-Based Access and Delivery of Health Information Resources for Eastern Wisconsin AHEC Nurses is to provide selected Eastern AHEC nurses in practice and in training with people support systems and hands-on familiarity needed to access web-based information resources. The following objectives will be met:

1. Grant participants will achieve reliable connectivity to the Internet and library resources.

12 PHDs will be connected to the Internet.
At least one computer at each site will have an Internet connection.

2. Project participants will increase their awareness of their own and their clients' information needs and information-seeking behaviors.

Pre-and post-project surveys will be completed.

3. Participants will be proficient in fundamental Internet skills.

Participants will learn how to browse, search, retrieve, and analyze retrieved information.

4. Participants will use the Internet efficiently and effectively in problem solving, in communicating and /or improving communication with colleagues throughout the state and the nation, as a continuing education tool, and as a tool for patient care.

Participants will acquire knowledge and skills to subscribe to appropriate listservs.
Participants will use Steenbock Library's "Netscape 4.0 Driver's Ed" to learn basic Internet skills.
Participants will attend a hands-on Internet workshop at a regional computer lab.
