Sara and Hanwen “visit” Chernobyl

After seeing the Fallout: The Mixed Blessing of Radiation & the Public Health exhibit in Ebling’s Historical Reading Room, students Sara and Hanwen went out to the 3rd floor galleries where they viewed the After Chernobyl: The Photographs of Michael Forster Rothbart. Both exhibits go until August 31st. Come see the exhibit for which many have said, “Chernobyl? I didn’t even know people still lived there.”

The reality is very different then a collective public perception; indeed over 6 million people live, work, go to school, farm, etc. in an area as big as the state of New York, many in the Chernobyl plant and in the surrounding villages. Michael’s photographs are at once educational and evocative. Come see it before it goes back to New York…

Both exhibits are open when Ebling is open.

The exhibits are in the Ebling Library at 750 Highland Ave., in the 3rd floors Historical Reading Room & Galleries
