Final Semester for Brian Stephenson’s Just Mercy

An Interprofessional Discussion was held this week regarding the subject matter in Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy, the 2015-2016 UW Go Big Read selection. Students, faculty and staff from the Schools of Nursing, Pharmacy and Medicine and Public Health gathered and talked about the themes of criminal justice, social justice, the prison system, and racial bias.

Copies of Just Mercy are still available at Ebling’ 2nd floor Service desk. Bryan spoke about the book last October to a standing room only crowd, over 100 faculty members have use the book in their classes, and thousands of UW and Madison community members have read this provocative, important story about the justice and incarceration system in the United States. Before semester’s end, grab a copy of a book the New York Times book reviewer called, “a searing, moving and infuriating memoir…”
