Ebling Library Restart

EBLING LIBRARY SPACE

School of Medicine and Public Health students, staff, and faculty can access the Ebling Library 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine students, staff, and faculty can access the Ebling Library 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday.

Ebling Library is closed to all others until further notice.

Visitors to Ebling Library must use Wiscard/UW Health badges for access and are required to wear face coverings and maintain 6 ft . No food or drink is permitted in the Ebling Library at this time.

Contact HSLC’s Security Office or Doug Pollard, HSLC Facility Manager, at qecbyyneq@jvfp.rqh for access questions and issues. Please note that Ebling Library does not handle badge access.

The library workstations, seating, and furniture have been adjusted to allow for appropriate distancing. Please adhere to the Badger Pledge when visiting the Ebling Library. We want all patrons and staff to be safe and respect others by following guidelines, adhering to posted signs, and keeping furniture and seating in place.

The Ebling Library maintains minimal onsite staff providing limited services Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

LIBRARIAN CONSULTATIONS, REFERENCE, INSTRUCTION

Ebling librarians are fully available for remote consultations and synchronous and asynchronous library instruction via web conferencing tools (Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.), video capture, phone, and email.

All consultations and instruction will be delivered remotely throughout the fall semester.

Requests can me made via Ask a Librarian or directly to designated librarians for your group or unit (liaison librarians).

REQUESTING ELECTRONIC ARTICLES AND BOOK CHAPTERS (INTERLIBRARY LOAN)

The Ebling Library continues interlibrary library loan services for electronic articles and book chapters. Please note that there are still some delays. We will do the best we can to find a library to fill a request.

REQUESTING RESERVE ITEMS FOR COURSES

The Ebling Library is aware that fall 2020 semester courses may need articles, books, book chapters, etc. The Ebling Library staff will work with you to fulfill your course needs during these times.

OBTAINING LIBRARY MATERIALS

Ebling Library Books — Ebling Library books are available for in-person checkout from 9 am – 4 pm Monday – Friday only for students, staff, and faculty granted access to the Ebling Library (see above).  Others may place requests for Ebling Library books through the library catalog for pickup at Steenbock or Memorial Library.  Books can be returned at any time via the 2nd floor book drop next to the library entrance or at other campus libraries.

Rare Books, Historical and Special Collections — Contact Micaela Sullivan-Fowler for information on accessing material from Ebling Library’s Vault or other historical repositories. Material from the recent exhibition on the 1918 Pandemic may be available electronically as well.

Campus Library materials — Pickup of materials from other campus libraries at Ebling Library is not yet available, although patrons may drop-off of materials from other campus libraries.

Laptop Checkout — Laptops are now available for checkout and return between 9 am – 4 pm only to students, staff, and faculty granted access to the Ebling Library (see above). Laptops can be checked out for two weeks and renewed in person at the library service desk or via an email to Joe King at wbfrcu.xvat@jvfp.rqh. Laptops checked out from Memorial Library must be returned to Memorial Library weekdays 9 am – noon and 1 pm – 5pm on at the Memorial Library entrance on State Street Mall.

Equipment Checkout — Equipment (cameras, headphones, cables, etc.) are not available at this time.
