Editor’s Note, Spring 2025

Dear Reader,

It is the fair month of April, which heralds the arrival not only of spring but of the Spring 2025 issue of Corpus Callosum. Just like past issues, this one is rich with textures, colors, sounds, moments, places, and ideas, with the whimsical and lighthearted alongside the deeply serious and gut-wrenching. There are pieces that may elicit smiles, contemplations, and tugs on the heartstrings (I will admit, this is now the second issue with written works that have brought me to tears—like one of the titles states, ‘so beautiful it hurts’).

This is a notable year for Corpus Callosum as it marks five years since the inaugural issue in the summer of 2020. These past five years have seen both calm and tumultuous times for our country and the world and as editor, I am still amazed that we started this journal at the start of a pandemic, arguably a time when this journal was needed most for community-building. It is remarkable to watch this journal grow, gaining new artists and readers with each issue.

So thank you to all the artists, reviewers, and readers for making these five years wonderful; here’s to many more!

In gratitude,

Lia Vellardita
Managing Editor, Corpus Callosum
