Teaching with Intent: Building Awareness, Empathy, and Purpose in the Classroom

Instructor: Trisha Adamus

Online/virtual
@ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Teaching is more than conveying information—it’s a skill that grows through reflection, practice, and intention. In this one-hour interactive workshop, participants will explore the often-overlooked art of teaching with a focus on clarity, empathy, and personal growth. Together, we will identify strategies for recognizing and addressing the “expert awareness gap”—the disconnect that can occur when we forget what it’s like to be a beginner. Attendees will also learn practical techniques for avoiding dismissive or unintentionally discouraging language, making space for students’ diverse perspectives and experiences.

The workshop will emphasize using feedback as a powerful tool for improving instructional effectiveness, transforming student input into meaningful teaching adjustments. Finally, participants will receive guidance on crafting a personalized teaching philosophy that reflects their values, goals, and instructional style. Whether you’re new to teaching or looking to refine your approach, this session provides accessible, actionable tools to elevate your practice.
