Join us in wishing Ebling’s curator/historical librarian/historian/marketer, Micaela Sullivan-Fowler, a happy retirement, starting Friday, December 13th. It’s been nearly 25 years of Love: Rare Books, History, Students, Exhibitions, Faculty Collaborations, Scholarship, Mentoring, Instruction, Writing, and Creating HADES, a UW database with vintage advertisements. She would join Cicero in suggesting, “If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need.” She plans on a bigger garden, chickens, travel, visits up north, and books, always books, the therapy we can never get enough of. Though retired, she remains available, especially for coffees, lunches and CHATS! Find her at: micaela.sullivan-fowler@wisc.edu
There will likely be a retirement party after the holidays, where hugs and stories will be the order of the day!
If you want to see what Micaela fashioned, lately, come see:
Swan Song: Adoration & Thanks for All Who Made This Possible.
The exhibit will be available through the spring of 2025.
Ebling Library 3rd floor, Historical Reading Room, 750 Highland Ave. Madison, WI
Swan Song honors the people, animals, donors, bodies, students, artists, etc., who made Micaela’s storytelling and research guidance possible. BIG Books, little books, artifacts, photos, ANATOMY stunners, some disquieting images and ideas, some magical connections…lots of grace, lots of prompts for questions still to be investigated. And if interested in historical health sciences advertisements, chronicling our rich heritage, try HADES, (you can search the product as well as the words in the ad copy) No more robust rabbit hole can be found on the interwebs. https://search.library.wisc.edu/digital/AMedicalAds
Thank you all, for everything, Micaela
