July is Disability Pride Month, celebrate by reading Rebekah Taussig’s ‘Sitting Pretty’

Disability Pride Month commemorates the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in July of 1990 and honors the incredible work of past and present disability rights activists.  It is a reminder to celebrate disability culture and community, while continuing to fight for further progress.

Sitting Pretty, Taussig’s engaging memoir/essay collection/call to action, is an excellent introduction to disability advocacy and reframes the disabled experience.  We have free copies through the UW’s 2024-2025 Go Big Read program.  All are welcome to stop into the library and take a copy home.
