Data Services

Our data librarian is available to answer your questions regarding best practices in research data management and sharing, and compliance with requirements related to the management and sharing of research data (e.g. from a publisher or funder).

Data Management Planning and Dataset Review Services

  • Create a Data Management Plan for your grant using templates and example language for major funding agencies with DMPTool. By signing in with your UW-Madison NetID, you’ll be able to request feedback on your DMPs from RDS consultants once you’ve completed a first draft of your DMP.
  • Guidance on the creation of metadata to include with your research when submitting to a repository, including identifiers, data dictionaries and metadata standards.
  • Select a data storage option best suited to your research and group needs. Cloud computing and campus data storage solutions are available through DoIT’s Research Cyberinfrastructure (CI) team.
