(Health) Sciences on Display!

Here’s the exciting line up! Sunday 4/6 @ Health Sciences Learning Center…

This year’s UW-Madison’s Science Expeditions 2014, runs on campus from Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6. The majority of the Exploration Stations on the east side of campus will be at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. Tom Zinnen, PhD., from UW’s Science Alliance, who organizes the Expeditions, was pleased that last year’s Science Expeditions at the Health Sciences Learning Center’s (HSLC) atrium was a huge success. Micaela Sullivan-Fowler, the coordinator of the Science Expeditions at HSLC invites you all to be part of the health sciences centric Exploration Stations on Sunday, April 6th from 10 o’clock to 2 o’clock.

Highlights from the HSLC Exploration Stations include tours of UW Hospitals cutting edge Clinical Simulation Program, and Lauren Papp, Phd. sharing her research on the dynamics of couple relationships.

We will also have representatives from the Waisman Center, the School of Medicine and Public Health, the School of Pharmacy and the UW Hospital, and others, who will be sharing their research or offering hands-on demonstrations regarding ultrasound physics, molecular archeology, asthma awareness, anesthesiology, auditory science, the science of swallowing, and how ECGs operate. You can also visit the historical exhibition, Costly Progress: Medical Advances in the American Civil War, on the Ebling Library’s 3rd floor.

Ebling librarian, Stephen Johnson and SLIS graduate student, Holly Storck-Post will be assisting visitors in finding authoritative health information on the internet.

Family, friends, students, and explorer’s from the Madison community are welcome to join us. Health Science Learning Center, 750 Highland Ave. Madison, WI.
