All the JAMAs, All the Time!

Ebling Library is thrilled to present the JAMA Network Backfiles…

The Ebling Library recently acquired The JAMA Network Backfiles, a digital archive that includes every issue of JAMA and the American Medical Association specialty journals published from 1883 through 1997. The archive features landmark articles that played a pivotal role in shaping the last century of medical research, clinical practice, and public health. UW-Madison affiliated users can access the backfiles through the JAMA Network website or on a mobile device via the JN Reader.

During the HSLC Transformation Project, the Ebling Library’s print backfiles of AMA journals were moved to various storage locations. The acquisition of the digital archive will provide easier access for UW-Madison researchers and historians to retrieve the full text of articles while also preserving the library’s aging print copies.

Keep in mind, if you are looking for original advertisements, which are not part of the digitized copies, please contact historical librarian, Micaela Sullivan-Fowler, micaela.sullivan-fowler@wisc.edu for access to a print copy of the journal.

The purchase of the The JAMA Network Backfiles was made possible by donated funds. The Ebling Library would like to thank the many UWSMPH alumni and friends of the Ebling Library who have given generously. If you would like to contribute to the library and support future educational, clinical, research, and historical initiatives, please contact Christopher Hooper-Lane, christopher.hooper-lane@wisc
