UW-Madison will be participating in the Southern Guild Council International, one of the largest print maker conferences in the world, from March 16th through March 19th, 2022. Curator of Rare Books & Special Collections, Micaela Sullivan-Fowler, M.S., M.A., has worked with six of those artists, either on site or remotely, as they examined 16th-19th century books, with an eye to responding to them with a 21st century print. Whether an original engraving, lithograph, woodcut or mezzotint, our Collections have prompted them to examine the subject of “What is the Body,” in an exhibition called “Parts Unknown” at Ebling Library, in the 3rd floor’s Historical Reading Room during those four days.
