Opening Doors: Contemporary African-American Surgeons

Ebling Library and the HSLC is starting off their 2010-2011 exhibit schedule with a bang.

We begin with Opening Doors: Contemporary African-American Surgeons, up until Sept. 24th on the Health Sciences Learning Center’s 2nd Floor Landing area.

This traveling exhibit comes to us from the National Library of Medicine and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in Baltimore. The journey of the African American physician from pre-Civil War to modern day America has been challenging. In photographs and evocative text, the exhibit panels chronicles the journey. Modern day individuals like pediatric neurosurgeon, Alexa I. Canady and historic luminaries like surgeon Charles Drew are portrayed.
