UW-Madison has chosen “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” by Rebecca Skloot as the 2010-2011 Common Book project. The four health sciences schools are holding discussion sessions to talk about the books and its many complex topics- like race and medical research, the vagaries of consent, the questions of body and tissue ownership, the issues of human subject experimentation, and the journey Skloot and the Lacks’ have taken together.
