Astrobiology at HSLC

In conjunction with Ebling’s current exhibit, “Beyond the Edge of the Sea,” Brooke Norsted, Assistant Director of UW Madison’s Geology Museum has invited Clark Johnson, PhD to present a fascinating talk, “Searching for Water and Life in the Universe: The Field of Astrobiology. Professor Johnson, from UW-Madison Department of Geoscience is the Principal Investigator with the Wisconsin Astrobiology Research Consortium (funded by the NASA Astrobiology Institute (NAI), and will tell us about the NASA framework for searching for life on other planets, in which researchers “follow the water.” Life as we know it requires water as “the universal solvent.” The project is exploring the evidence for early water on Earth and Mars, as well as the methods used to determine if evidence for life exists on other plants, and when life evolved on the early Earth. Bring your lunch and join us for this fascinating talk on the far west side of campus. Tuesday, January 10th, 12:00-1:00 in Auditorium 1335.
